Table of Authorities Proofreading Checklist
What is in the checklist?+
Every authority in the table, and under it each place the brief cites it: the page number, the words around the citation with the citation highlighted, and a box to tick. A second reader goes through it with the brief and confirms each page.
How is it different from the table?+
The table says where each authority is cited. The checklist shows the sentence behind each page number, so someone who did not write the brief can confirm it without hunting through the pages.
What file do I need?+
The final PDF gives page numbers as printed. A Word file works too; the checklist then shows the citations without page numbers.
Is my brief uploaded?+
No. The brief is read in your browser tab and never leaves your computer.
Does it check whether the cases are good law?+
No. It is a proofreading aid for the table of authorities, not a citator.
